"It means that they are naïve of these concepts. I really have no trouble saying that since we're talking about esoteric, experience- driven knowledge here. I also know that 99.9% of the world (including me) doesn't know how the citric acid cycle and cellular respiration create 38 ATP molecules per cycle. It's an esoteric thing of which I am unaware, just as many are unaware of competitive games." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ But it's not necessary to play every game to win just in order to play, any more than it's necessary to learn to throw a football like Bret Favre in order to play football. All that's necessary is, if you can't throw like Bret Favre, then don't whine about it when he completes more passes than you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ To clarify: we are talking about games here. These people are putting crazy amounts of effort into playing video and card games that the vast majority of the scrub population have no use for. It's not like being the best at Astrophysics, Architectural Design or Microbiology- they have developed skills that no one cares about and that for the most part, will not support them through life.
